Add Your Own Features - Ideas to Customize Your Child's Wooden Play Kitchen

The beautiful thing about wooden play kitchens is that wood is easy to attach your own features to your play kitchen.  With a few screws and maybe some hooks you can add some fun features to your play kitchen. 

Tea cup hooks – If you have a microwave, you can add a few tea cup hooks below the microwave and you have a handy spot to hang your tea cups. Or, maybe under a cabinet you could put a few tea cup hooks.  This will save you a little space in your cupboard.

Hook or towel holder – A small hook attached to the side of your refrigerator, or a ring towel holder, is a great option for hanging a kitchen towel.  Kids will love to have a towel in their kitchen, just like mommy.

Paper towel holder – A paper towel holder on the side of your oven is another fun option.  You probably won’t want to give your child a full roll of paper towels, but you can wait until your own roll is almost out and then throw it on your child’s paper towel holder. 

Clock – A small kitchen clock is a fun option for your wooden play kitchen.  They are fairly inexpensive and you can put a small screw on the side of your oven or refrigerator to hang your clock.  This is a great opportunity to start teaching your child to tell time.

Chalkboard or whiteboard – A small chalkboard or whiteboard attached to your refrigerator is a fun place to write your grocery list or a menu. 

Magnetic board – You can add a magnetic board on the refrigerator and put some pretty magnets on it.  You will then have a great place to hang your art work. 

Light – You could get a battery operated closet light and place it above your kitchen sink.  Then you will be able to see when you watch your dishes. 

Personalize – You can take a stencil and paint your child’s name onto their kitchen.  Or stencil some flowers on the cupboards or refrigerator.  You can add some pretty features to your wooden play kitchen to make it your special taste. 

As you can see, there are many ways you can enhance your play kitchen.  A wooden play kitchen is very easy to add a few screws and customize your kitchen anyway you like.  The possibilities are endless when it comes to adding to your wooden play kitchen.
